For The Living

London. 3012. The climate wars have sent every country into isolation. Technology has slowed to a crawl. But a new AI brain chip is being rolled out across England for free. Instant health alerts sent to your doctor, direct access to the internet. You’d be a fool to refuse.

Caring for an alcoholic father and trying to secure the school grades to go to University, while maintaining the image of perfection for her far too perfect boyfriend, Kaida has enough on her plate.

But when the chips go live, and the whole population hands control of their minds to an AI with an agenda, Kaida is one of the few left in command of her thoughts.

With humanity transformed into Neuro-Mechs, Kaida is forced to join with the rebel group, THV. She must leave the perfect school girl facade behind and find a new identity. But Kaida is not just fighting to survive the Mechs who are hunting down the last of humanity, she is searching for her boyfriend, Tom, in the hopes she can help him reclaim his body and mind. But all the training and hard work cannot prepare Kaida for Nate, the son of the head of THV, brutal, efficient, and undeniably fascinating…

A Thread of Ruin

Welcome to Astralis, where the Valen rule with godly powers, and the powerless Meren bend and scrape to stay alive.

Desperate to escape her powerless and impoverished life as a Meren, and driven by a desire to kill that sick son-of-a-bitch, Varros, Saphia accepts a blood wager that leaves her trapped in the Morthane, the land of the dead. Maltheus, King of Morthane, accuses her of freeing souls and working against him. He tasks his son, Prince Ridian, with uncovering the truth. Saphia’s fight for her freedom sees her nearly drowned in the Fade and tortured in Shadowrift, but when Ridian risks his life to save her, Saphia wonders if there is something more beneath the Prince’s cold exterior.

But fractures are opening in the ground, beasts are attacking from the void, and Morthane will do whatever it takes to protect his lands, forcing Saphia to choose - betray everyone for her freedom, or remain trapped forever.

Addicted to Ruby and the Rix

“The itching creeps through his scalp again, crawling over his shoulders. His nails scrabble against his skin, trying to catch the sensation before it reaches his spine and spreads down his back.”

“He needs to think. He needs a hit. He needs Ruby.”

When Robbie finds Ruby on a park bench, out in the open but without a chip, he’s sure it’s a trap. But he’s drawn to her, and the golden vial that twirls between her fingertips. Verixil.

Mechs want to track down the rebel group, THV, and their using the last of the un-chipped to do it. Hooked on the Rix, Robbie and Ruby must earn their next hit but hunting THV.

But when Ruby goes missing, Robbie has bigger problems than the addiction that’s eating away at his body, and a clock that’s ticking.

“I have been working with Joely on a regular basis over the past three years on several fantasy novels. She’s very meticulous, spots easily the parts where the pacing is off, has a keen eye for line editing, and always gives honest feedback in the best interest of the work in progress. I will be sure to work with her again in the future and recommend her to anyone in search of a first class editor.”
